Working for Life

Working is not merely about money and vocational status. Work is a link to life and motivation. There was a phase of my life when I knew deep somewhere that no amount of work will lead to any progress. However, the work itself was immensely important intrinsically and in enabling purposeful structure. I called it the New Deal phase of my life. I had first learned about the term in the pretext of a historical measure taken by Franklin Delano Roosevelt during the Great Depression. Apparently, it works even at the individual level because vocational growth has several other elements. It may simply mean expanding your knowledge base, furthering a nuanced understanding of something you already do, or working on what is under greater control. Work can be the most reliable pursuit in the face of an unknown future because work denotes movement and movement enables hope.
