And Then What Happened?

Good and bad things knit up our lives. Over the years I have learned to step outside expectations at times and simply wait for how it all turns out eventually. The beauty of ‘eventually’ is how it is always in progress. We tend to even think like this at times, i.e. “Eventually, …this and that will happen and ….everything will be fine.” A few years ago, I applied a different strategy for questioning life. I asked myself, “Name five things you gained in terms of valuable experience and achievements in life in the past fifteen years, things you couldn't have possibly anticipated in 2005.” In a matter of minutes, I had a few good things to count already. It is not a solution to everything. However, it enables perspective and assurance that life is always moving. What you gain happens quickly while the burdens keep us psychologically stuck for long. Some retrospective thought is sometimes all we have when the future is unknown.
